Appointed Positions

The Town of Wilton is run by volunteers. Only the First Selectman is a paid position. Some of these positions are filled by general election; others by appointment from the Board of Selectmen.

Commission on Social Services

The Department provides crisis intervention; short-term counseling; and information and referral to local state and federal human service programs. The term of service is 2 years.

Conservation Commission

The Conservation Commission manages the town owned open space lands and guides the development and conservation of natural resources. The Commission also functions as an advisory board to the Planning & Zoning and Inland Wetlands Commissions. The Conservation Commission also works to educate the public on conservation issues, to promote Wilton’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day, and to encourage recycling and “green energy” practices. The term is 3 years.

Fire Commission

The Wilton Fire Department supplies 24-hour fire, rescue and emergency medical aid to the Town. Wilton receives fire protection from a combination career and volunteer fire department. Term is 2 years.

Inland Wetlands Commission

The Inland Wetlands Department is responsible for administering the Inland Wetlands and Watercourse Regulations for the Town. The Department reviews applications on all land use projects within wetlands, and watercourses within the regulated areas adjacent to them (100ft). The Department also pursues violations and the corresponding corrective action. The term is 3 years.

Parks & Recreation

The Wilton Parks and Recreation Department offers programs for children eighteen months of age through senior citizens. Most programs are self-sustaining, where a nominal participation fee is charged to offset the costs. Some programs are offered to the community at no charge.
